*** Registration may close earlier if the division maximum on participants is reached prior to the close. ***
Registrations are accepted on a first come basis, all players will initially register for the waitlist and be activated in accordance with the below outline. Once teams have reached their maximum capacity, additional players will remain on a wait list and will only be added to a team if a spot becomes available.
Registration preference for players will be given as follows:
1) Players who reside or attend school within the North Santiam School District
2) Returning players from 2023
3) All other players
Santiam Youth Sports Softball teams play through the Valley League.
Cost is $140.
Softball is offered to 3rd - 8th grade players.
SYS offers the following age groups:
3rd/4th grade
5th/6th grade
7th/8th grade
Players must play in the corresponding age division based on their current school grade. Players may only "play up" in an older age division if approved by SYS.
Practices generally begin in April. The practice schedule (days, times, locations) is determined by each team's coaching staff.
Teams generally practice 2 times per week, depending on age division.
Softball games generally begin mid-May and can go through the second or third week in July.
All players are expected to finish the season, if your child has a reason why they would not be able to play until mid July please let SYS know ASAP. If your player does not finish the season, it may affect future registrations.Softball players must have their own glove, batting helmet (with a full-face mask), and bat. Bats can be shared with other players.
Softball players will be provided with a team jersey as a uniform. Players may be required to purchase baseball pants, belt, and socks as requested by the coaching staff.
Softball players must wear cleats (metal spikes allowed for 7th/8th grade only).
All softball players must attend our Evaluation Clinic which will be held on a date TBD in March 2024.
Location of Evaluation Clinic to be determined:
7th/8th: TBD (check in starts at TBD)
5th/6th: TBD (check in starts at TBD)
3rd/4th: TBD (check in starts at TBD)
For those who are not able to make it to the evaluation clinic, please contact us as soon as possible to make other arrangements.
During the clinic, players are evaluated on their softball skill and ability. This is necessary in order to be able to place the players on the team most appropriate for them.
