***The Rookie season will begin with practice starting about April 1st and will end around June 8th***

***We will put in place some kid pitch to prep participants for the next level***

Rookies is offered to 1st and 2nd grade kids. 

Cost is $85.

Rookie teams are co-ed.

During the registration process, parents may make a special request for a specific coach or for their child to be placed on a team with another specific player. SYS will make every effort to accommodate these requests, however, it is not guaranteed.

Rookie practice generally begin in late March or early April. The practice schedule (days, times, locations) is determined by each team's coaching staff. 

Rookie teams generally practice twice per week until games begin. Once games begin, most teams will then only practice once per week.

Rookie games generally begin the third week in April and go through the second week of June.

Rookie games may be played on weeknights or Saturday mornings.  Games will be played in Stayton, Sublimity, Scio, Mehama and Mill City.

Rookie teams will generally have two games per week, though there is an occasional bye. 

Rookie players must have their own glove, batting helmet, and bat.  Bats can be shared with other players, if a player does not have their own bat.

Players will be provided with a team t-shirt and hat as a uniform. Players may wear baseball pants, sweats, or shorts. 

Players may wear cleats or tennis shoes.
